Guardians of Seed and Song

from $280.00

Species: Pinyon Jay on a Piñon Tree

Habitat: Piñon-Juniper Woodlands of the Western U.S.

Location: Salida, Colorado

Public Land: San Isabel National Forest

Description: Perched on the gnarled branch of a piñon tree, the pinyon jay surveys its woodland, feathers catching the sun like polished stone. The tree, ancient and resin-scented, frames the bird in its arms of twisted wood. Bird and tree are bound in quiet kinship, guardians of seed and song in the sunlit stillness of the arid woodlands that wrap the mountains of the West.

I spent four years working on a project to document the lives of Pinyon Jays and their intimate relationship with Piñon trees. Visit the Piñon Country website for more on that.

Fine art print on acid free, 100% cotton, bright or warm white, textured surface, archival quality paper. For more about papers I use click here.
