Light Catcher

from $280.00

Species: Rocky Mountain Iris (Albiflora)

Habitat: Thrives in moist, open areas, particularly in meadows, along streambanks, and in wetland areas within the montane and subalpine regions of western North America. They can be found from low valleys up to 11,500 feet in elevation.

Location: Jemez Mountains, New Mexico

Public Land: Santa Fe National Forest

Description: For the past few years, I’ve been enchanted by patches of Rocky Mountain Iris with white forms of the flowers, called “abiflora.” These pale blossoms stand out in the wild landscape. In this moment the white flowers catch the light breaking through the clouds after summer monsoon rains. Like other white flowers, they also attract specific pollinators such as moths or nocturnal bees in the moonlight.

Prints: Fine art print on acid free, 100% cotton, bright or warm white, textured surface, archival quality paper. For more about papers I use click here.
